Representative Crenshaw’s First Bill Passes The House
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Dan Crenshaw’s H.R. 2609, the Acquisition Review Board Act of 2019, passed in the House of Representatives, marking Crenshaw’s first legislative success since taking office in January. The bill, which is cosponsored by Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM), seeks to eliminate delays and inefficiencies in the Department of Homeland Security’s acquisitions process by establishing an oversight board. DHS’s acquisition management handles billions of dollars a year and was named to the Government Accountability Office’s “high risk list,” indicating it is highly susceptible to waste, fraud, abuse and mismanagement. The bill passed unanimously.
“At a time when Congress can’t agree on much when it comes to DHS, this was a rare bright spot,” said Crenshaw. “Bringing more oversight, strengthened accountability, and better management to a process that handles billions of dollars each year is a win for Congress and our taxpayers. I look forward to seeing this move through the Senate soon.”
