Protecting Children. Ending Taxpayer-Funded Gender Experiments.
The Crenshaw Amendment bans the use of Medicaid, CHIP, and Affordable Care Act funds for so-called "gender-transition procedures" on minors.
That includes puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and irreversible surgeries like double mastectomies and genital reconstruction.
These are not treatments. They are permanent, damaging interventions being forced on kids in the name of radical ideology. And the federal government should have no hand in it.
The amendment has officially passed through the House Energy & Commerce Committee and is now included in President Trump's One, Big, Beautiful Bill. This will become law, and I couldn't be happier about it.

- What’s the current status of the amendment?
-
The amendment has passed the House Energy & Commerce Committee and is now included in President Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful Bill. It’s headed for a full House vote, followed by the Senate, and is on track to be signed into law very soon.
Return to Top - Why is the federal government funding gender procedures on kids in the first place?
-
Because radical activists infiltrated federal health policy under the Biden administration, twisting anti-discrimination rules into a weapon. They opened the door for Medicaid, CHIP, and ACA subsidies to cover puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries for minors. The Crenshaw Amendment slams that door shut.
Return to Top - What does this mean for President Trump’s agenda?
-
It means President Trump’s policies get locked into law. The Crenshaw Amendment codifies and expands on President Trump’s executive actions—specifically those aimed at preventing federal agencies from using tax dollars to promote or fund gender transitions for minors. This amendment takes those efforts and makes them permanent law, so they can’t be undone by a future administration.
Return to Top - Does the amendment stop mental health support for gender-confused youth?
-
No. The amendment only blocks funding for medical and surgical interventions. Kids can—and should—get counseling, support, and care. What we won’t support is turning that into a pipeline to permanent medical harm.
Return to Top - How much will taxpayers save when the Crenshaw Amendment becomes law?
-
About $1 billion over 10 years. That’s the estimated savings from blocking federal funding—via Medicaid, CHIP, and ACA—for gender transition procedures on minors. With transition costs running up to $75,000 per child, the numbers add up fast. This amendment cuts it off—saving money and saving lives.
