Crenshaw Supports Bipartisan FY2020 Appropriations Bills

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Dan Crenshaw released the following statement and video after voting for two appropriations bills that will fund the remainder of the 2020 fiscal year:

“Today Congress did something we’ve seen very little of lately: compromise. Although I strongly disagree with the top-line spending, negotiators did a good job. Ultimately these bipartisan bills do a lot for our region by appropriating $22 million for maintenance of the Houston Ship Channel, nearly $18 billion for the FEMA Disaster Relief Fund and delaying cuts in funding for several Houston hospitals. In addition to those local wins, this spending deal repeals taxes on health insurance plans and medical devices, raises military pay and funds barriers at our border and additional staff for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. While Congress must make a better effort to rein in our discretionary and mandatory spending, I appreciate the good faith compromise and find these provisions to be too important to oppose and risk another government shutdown.”
