Congressman Crenshaw here,

This week, I continued to debunk the myth that our hospital system in Houston is being overrun by COVID patients. I also continued to speak out strongly against calls for new economic lockdowns and called on Democrat leaders to get Congress back to work.

Please reach out to my offices if you have a concern, want to hear what we’re working on in Congress, or are having trouble with a federal agency. I have a full team in Texas and in the nation's capital ready to assist you. Be sure to stay up to date by following me on TwitterFacebook, and YouTube. For a behind-the-scenes look, follow my staff's official Instagram account.

Now, let's catch up.

houston's hospitals and health care workers are stronger than covid

The growth rate for COVID-19 hospitalizations in Houston are trending in the right direction right now. Yet many politicians continue to mislead the public that Houston's hospitals are unable to handle the uptick in COVID cases.

This is dangerous, because many people are now afraid to go to the hospital to get treatment for whatever medical problems they are having. The irresponsible rhetoric must stop.

But we are not out of the woods yet. We still need to take precautions - like wearing masks and social distancing - but the data show that our hospitals are not being overrun. And I'll continue to work with our health care workers to ensure they have the resources they need to handle the uptick in COVID-19 cases in Houston.

We are Houston strong and will get through this together.

we cannot lock down our economy again
?The left argues that shutting down the economy again is the only solution to address the spike in COVID cases. ?That is unnacceptable.
?This single-minded approach to this challenge is dangerous, because it ignores the severe harms of lockdowns to public health, education, and livelihoods. ?We must have honest, more contextualized conversations about the negative impact of lockdowns so that we do not repeat the same mistakes as we work to address this public health crisis.

congress needs to get back to work

This week, we had another virtual Congressional hearing, with long delays and technical difficulties, and I’ve had enough. Getting back to in-person hearings in Congress is more than just about overcoming technical difficulties, though, it’s about demonstrating courage and leadership.

We’ve forgotten what that means as a country, and we better get it back. But Democrat leaders have kept the House in hiding while the country is in crisis. Democrats have implemented an unconstitutional proxy voting scheme, which allows Members of Congress to abandon their duties as elected representatives, and we continue to hold virtual hearings.

I'll continue to speak out against this, because I strongly believe that Members of Congress should have the courage to lead from the front, especially during difficult times like these.
